I will introduce you to the art of dyeing using plants,
flowers and other natural materials.
You'll learn the history and techniques of
natural dyeing using wool and cotton fibers.
Class takes place at my Studio in East Avon, NY.

Purple Grape Juice

Brown or Beige

Instant Coffee

Tea

Yellow

Orange or Lemon Peels (boiled)

Carrot Tops (boiled)

Chamomile Tea

Celery Seed (boiled)

Ground Cumin (boiled)

Ground Turmeric (boiled) or Saffron

A pan half full with water, a splash of vinegar and your dyestuff

by the handful, drop in hard-boiled eggs!

Professor of Environmental Sciences, Richard Stockton College of New Jersey.

Sustainability is a term often used with large-scale agriculture but is equally applicable to home-level gardening. Sustainable gardening begins with site evaluation, soil testing and selection of appropriate plants, including heirloom varieties. Equally important is the maintenance of soil health, especially through the build up of soil organic-matter via techniques such as composting (regular and vermi-composting) and mulching. Many of these techniques lead to water conservation but more specific procedures, such as drip irrigation, should be considered.

Healthy soils lead to healthy plants that resist pests. However companion planting and other biological pest control methods are good practices.

A walk through Roz Bliss’s garden via her slide presentation and commentary detailing how to use rock garden plants and bulbs with perennials and edibles to have a year round esthetic experience when you step out of any door of your home. Construction techniques for long term easy maintenance will be covered.

Primitive scents

It's been frustrating getting going again on this blog, but with the weather turning cooler, the time has come to make room for stitching and herbs. Stitching penny rugs and turning the now dried harvest into something lovely that is.

I think I'll go forward by saying goodbye to a wonderful friend, my shop. It has been a long road since first stumbling upon this little building. I know, those of you who know me have heard, "I'm letting the shop go," a million times. 5 years went by so quick since delivering my daughter Kelsy stillborn, the shop was my friend and a baby of sorts at a time when I needed it most.

In these economic times having an indulgence like that has been like winning the lottery. Now as I make an online presence with my photography, I am shifting Cranberry Creek Herbs to the internet, still like winning the lottery, working at home doing what I love part-time.
